Paul E. Sawmiller, 87

Paul E. Sawmiller, 87, of rural Spencerville, died on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at his residence.  

He was born on Sept. 15, 1925, in Van Wert County, the son of Arthur and Mildred (Rempher) Sawmiller, who preceded him in death.  

On July 14, 1947, he married Jean A. Kolter, and she survives.

Other survivors include five children, Paula (Michael) Bice of Spencerville, Norris (Jean) Sawmiller of Mendon, Claudine Hawk, Roxanne (Roy) Lauth and Michael (Laura) Sawmiller, all of Spencerville; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Luella (Robert) Grothouse of Delphos; a brother, Kenneth Sawmiller of Spencerville.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Willis and Robert Sawmiller.

A farmer, Paul had worked at Weston Paper Mill, St. Marys. He attended the Monticello United Brethren in Christ Church, and enjoyed gardening.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, the Rev. Andrew J. Atkins, officiating.  

Burial is to follow in the Salem Cemetery, near Monticello.  

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the Monticello United Brethren In Christ Church.
