Paul “Slim” E. Timmerman, 85
Paul “Slim” E. Timmerman, 85, of 14492 Kohler Lane, Wapakoneta, died at 3:07 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born on Sept. 2, 1927, in Wapakoneta, the son of Lawrence and Emma (Bonnoront) Timmerman, and they preceded him in death.
In August 1950, in St. Marys, he married Delores “June” Whited, and she preceded him in death.
He is survived by two daughters, Bonnie S. (Robert A.) Jones of St. Marys and Marlene (Kenneth) Brooks of Kenton; eight grandchildren, Rich Schoenlein, Mike Schoenlein, Michelle Schoenlein, Tracy Kremer, Mindy Jones, Khristina Adkins, Lisa Ford and Bradley Ford; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Tony William Ford.
Mr. Timmerman was a 1946 graduate of Blume High School in Wapakoneta.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean War.
He retired from Ford Motor Co. Engine Plant in Lima after 30 years, where he worked as a fork lift operator.
He was a life member of Eagles Lodge Aerie 691 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445, both of Wapakoneta.
He was a great fan of NASCAR, always rooting for Jeff Gordon. He also liked Indy Car Racing, especially A. J. Foyt.
He also enjoyed traveling with his wife to Las Vegas and to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn.
Rites for Mr. Timmerman will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High St., St. Marys, with the Rev. Tom Eisenman officiating. Burial, with graveside military rites, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
