NYE Event to Benefit Lake

December 29, 2011

CELINA — Area residents can ring in the new year Saturday night while helping benefit Grand Lake St. Marys.

Romer’s Catering will again host its Save the Waves New Year’s Eve Fundraiser Saturday night, and a portion of each ticket will be donated to the Lake Restoration Commission.

Romer’s Catering Director of Sales and Marketing Angela Schmitz said the success of last year’s event prompted its continuation this year.

“We did the same fundraiser last year and we had great success with it, so we decided to do it again,” she said of the Save the Waves fundraiser.

Doors for the Save the Waves event open at 8 p.m. at Romer’s Catering, 1101 W. Bank Road, Celina. Dueling Pianos will take the stage at 9 p.m. and entertain attendees until 1 a.m. Drinks will be available and hors d’oeuvers will be served, along with sausage and sauerkraut at midnight. Tickets for the event are $25 per person.

“That’ll include three drink tokens, the hors d’oeuvres, sausage and sauerkraut and entertainment for the evening,” Schmitz said.

In addition to the Save the Waves fundraiser, Romer’s Catering is also offering a New Year’s Eve Grand Buffet at its St. Henry facility.

“We do have our New Year’s Eve Grand Buffet at our St. Henry location,” Schmitz said. “It’s available for $15 per person, and it’s a full meal — the salad bar, buffet, dessert and beverages.”

The buffet is priced at $15 for adults and $6 for children ages 3-8. Those attending the New Year’s Eve Grand Buffet and the Save the Waves fundraiser will receive a $5 discount. Reservations for the buffet are required and can be made by calling 419-678-8482.

A discount at Romer’s Westlake Hotel Villas is also available for those wishing to stay overnight. Villas may be reserved for $85, and each villa sleeps six people.

Schmitz said the business hosts the Save the Waves New Year’s Eve Fundraiser each year to benefit the community and the lake.

“We were trying to find a way to help benefit the lake and the community,” she said. “We wanted to do something good for the community, and what better way to ring in the new year than doing something for a good cause.”

Tickets for the Save the Waves New Year’s Eve Fundraiser can be purchased by calling 419-584-0606.
