Norman E. Hager, 85, of rural Wapakoneta, died at 6:08 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012, in the emergency room at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born on March 12, 1927, in Kossuth, the son of Martin and Vida (Richardson) Hager, and they preceded him in death.
On Nov. 23, 1956, he married Joan Spees Fiebelkorn, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2007.
He is survived by a son, Jon (Candy) Hager of Wapakoneta; six grandchildren, Rick, Jeff, Mark (fiancee Chelsie Mallow) and Desiree Fiebelkorn and Taylor and Mya Hager; a brother, Maurice (Wanita) Hager of Spencerville; a sister, Letha (Don) Method of New Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by a stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Fred (Deb) Fiebelkorn.
A lifelong farmer, Norman was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Wapakoneta. His other memberships included the Auglaize County Farm Bureau and Brands Fishing Club. He was a graduate of Spencerville High School and enjoyed farming and raising hogs.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Ohio 501, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Steven Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
