New Bremen's Messick resigns as head football coach
NEW BREMEN — Rob Messick resigned as head varsity football coach at New Bremen, the school’s board of education announced at its meeting on Thursday night.
Gary Jones, New Bremen athletic director, said on Thursday morning that Messick resigned "a couple weeks after the season."
Messick coached the Cardinals for five seasons, compiling a 12-38 record. His Cardinal teams went 8-31 in Midwest Athletic Conference play.
New Bremen finished the season 0-10, 0-8 in the Midwest Athletic Conference this season.
Messick came to New Bremen from Paulding, replacing former head coach Chad Williams in 2007.
New Bremen went 2-8 in Messick’s first season in 2007, followed by 3-7 in 2008, 5-5 in 2009, 2-8 in 2010 and 0-10 in 2011.
The search for a new coach won't likely begin until January when Jones and the school will know if and where there will open teaching positions in 2012-2013, Jones said on Thursday.
