NEW KNOXVILLE — The New Bremen Cardinals came through in crunch time once again.
The Cardinals got their post-game going, took care of the basketball and hit free throws down the stretch to hold on and defeat the New Knoxville Rangers 69-63 in a Midwest Athletic Conference game played at the Barn on Friday night.
“This game was a lot like last Friday against Minster,” Cardinals head coach Adam Dougherty said. “We didn’t play great but we were great at the end. Again we did a lot of good things at the end of the game and our guys are tough. They faced a lot of adversity and New Knoxville played really well tonight.”
Carson Manger led the Cardinals with 24 points. Nolan Fox added 17 points and seven rebounds. Ben Homan had 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Andrew Arnett led the Rangers with 25 points and Jalen Fullenkamp had 14 points.
New Bremen hit five of six free throws in the final thirty seconds to win the game 69-63.
The Cardinals were 25 of 35 from the line, while the Rangers were 17 of 28.
The Cardinals (8-7, 4-2) will travel to Jackson Center tonight, while the Rangers (7-8, 1-4) will travel to Ft. Jennings tonight.
