Girls Tennis: St. Marys 3, Van Wert 2
VAN WERT — The St. Marys girls tennis team swept the singles matches and emerged with a 3-2 win over Van Wert on Monday night.
The Roughriders improved to 5-1 on the season, 3-0 in WBL play.
Mariah Krugh won first singles for the Riders in straight sets over Gretchen Klinker 6-0, 6-0.
Alex Spencer downed Van Wert’s Jenna Waterson in second singles, 6-1, 6-3.
Katie Peterson added the third point for the Rougrhiders in third singles with a 7-5, 7-6 (11-9 tiebreaker) win over Rachel Chen.
Van Wert’s Lindsay Smith and Katie Etter defeated St. Marys first doubles team of Ariel Dodson and Allie Zimmerman, 6-3, 6-4.
Katie Kline and Paige Dunlap of Van Wert won second doubles over St. Marys’ Emily Brown and Priscilla Dodson, 6-3, 6-3.
St. Marys travels to Bath on Thursday.

Volleyball: New Bremen 3, Botkins 1
BOTKINS — It was a complete team victory for the New Bremen Cardinals volleyball team Monday evening at Botkins as they defeated the Trojans 25-16, 22-25, 25-13 and 25-16.
“I’m proud of the team tonight because we finished,” Cardinals head coach Theresa Jenkins said. “We have been trying to work on finishing in practice.
“This season these girls are a team,” Jenkins said. “I think whoever is in performs and they just want to win. I don’t think they get frustrated by it and I don’t think that it bothers them because they just want a winning team.”
Haley Moeller led the Cardinals in digs with 12, Gina Griesdorn had 11 and Karli Jones had 9. Jones also had 34 assists.
In the JV match New Bremen moved to 3-0 with a 25-14 and 25-16 victory.
New Bremen (1-1) will get into MAC play at Marion Local on Thursday.

Boys Golf: Van Wert 154, St. Marys 162
Van Wert edged the St. Marys boys golf team in a match-up of two of the Western Buckeye League’s top teams.
Tyler Turnwald fired a 36 for the Cougars to lead them to a 154-162 victory and earn medalist honors.
St. Marys freshman Carter Bowman led the way for the Riders with a 38. Will Paulus shot a 38, Colin Burke added a 41 and Austin Riggs shot a 44 for St. Marys.
Jacob Brake shot a 37, Brandon Hernandez fired a 40 and Adam Jurcyzk added a 41 for the winning Cougars, who improved to 3-0 in WBL play with the victory.
St. Marys travels to Bath on Thursday.

Minster 162, Marion Local 182
CELINA — The Minster boys golf team’s balanced scoring led the way in a MAC win over the Flyers, 162-182.
Austin Fischer and Matt Wuebker shot a pair of 40s for the Wildcats for medalist honors, while Freddie Purdy and Xavier Francis added 41s. John Burke shot a 42 and Josh Spieles carded a 45 on the Mercer County Elks course.
Danny Liette and Cameron Schemmel paced Marion Local with a pair of 44s. Dylan Platfoot shot a 46. Adam Kremer added a 48.
Minster will play New Bremen on Thursday at Arrowhead at 4:30 p.m.

Parkway 174, New Bremen 175
MINSTER — The Parkway Panthers narrowly edged the New Bremen boys golf team by one stroke  at Arrowhead on Monday.
Jordan Bollenbacher led Parkway with a 37 for medalist honors.
Darin Bergman led New Bremen with a 41, Alex Britton and Tyler Nosek added a pair of 44s and Ethan Elshoff shot a 46.
Along with Bollenbacher’s 37, Parkway received a 41 from Brian Schatzer, a 46 from Austin Stuckey and a 50 from Jordan Stephenson.
New Bremen will play Minster on Thursday at Arrowhead at 4:30 p.m.

Fort Recovery 181, New Knoxville 193
FORT RECOVERY — Jared Kahlig shot a 42 for Fort Recovery and the Indians topped the Rangers, 181-193, on Monday.
Tyler Shreve and Justin Slaven led the way for New Knoxville with 47s.
Michael Porter shot a 48 and David Boesche had a 51 for New Knoxville.

Boys Soccer: St. Marys 10, Lima Temple Christian 0
The St. Marys boys soccer team tuned up for the Western Buckeye League season with a 10-0 win over Lima Temple Christian at West Field on Monday.
The speedy duo of St. Marys senior Austin Slayton and Rider junior Brennan Brown scored three goals apiece to lead the way.
Senior Adam Ayers added a pair of goals.
Matt Lemmerman and Zach Wilker each added goals for the Roughriders, who took a 7-0 lead to the half.
St. Marys (2-0) will begin WBL play on Thursday night at Kenton. The Wildcats lost to Riverdale on Monday night, 2-0.
St. Marys hasn’t given up a goal yet this season and has outscored its two opponents 17-0.

Celina 4, Miller City 3
MILLER CITY — Sean Mertz, Lucas Warner, Eric Moeder and Scott Moeder scored goals for the Bulldogs in a narrow 4-3 win over Miller City on Monday night.
Celina improved to 1-1 on the season and will host Ottawa-Glandorf on Thursday.
