Girls Soccer: St. Marys 1, Bath 0
BATH TOWNSHIP — Bath missed its point-blank opportunity to untie Monday’s scoreless match with St. Marys. The Roughriders took advantage on their best chance.
Megan Schmehl, a St. Marys junior defender, lofted a short rebound shot over the head of the Bath keeper following a corner kick midway through the second half to give St. Marys the difference in a 1-0 win over the Wildkittens on Monday night.
Bath missed an opportunity to grab the game’s first goal at the 29:10 mark when St. Marys had a handball called inside the box. But Bath’s penalty kick drifted left of the post to give the Roughriders new life.
The teams played to a 0-0 tie for the first 59:58 of the game.
The Roughrider win sets up a rivalry showdown with the Celina Bulldogs at West Field on Thursday night at 5 p.m.
Volleyball: Fort Loramie 3, Minster 0
FT. LORAMIE — It was an improvement in all three sets but once again the Minster Wildcats couldn’t find any consistency and fell to the Ft. Loramie Redskins 25-16, 25-20 and 25-19 in a non-league match at Ft. Loramie.
“We start getting a little momentum and then we lose a point or two and then we lose the momentum,” Minster head coach Cami Lefeld said. “I started to move the rotation around a little bit it seems to be starting to work. The girls are starting to come together, but we need to get all together at once.”
Kassi Brown led Minster with four kills in the match. Madeleine Eiting had three blocks for the Wildcats.
Girls Tennis: St. Marys 4, Wapakoneta 1
The St. Marys girls tennis team swept the doubles matches and won two of the three singles matches in a 4-1 win over Wapakoneta on Monday night.
St. Marys improved to 7-2, 5-1 in the Western Buckeye League.
Emily Brown and Priscilla Dodson won second doubles for the Riders over Carly Buzzard and Amanda Sims, 6-4, 6-3.
St. Marys first doubles team of Allie Zimmerman and Ariel Dodson defeated Katie Martin and Kiersten Wellons of Wapakoneta, 6-0, 6-3.
At third singles, St. Marys’ Katie Peterson downed Annie Harrod fo Wapak, 6-3, 6-2.
St. Marys won second singles when Alex Spencer beat Shelby Gillespie in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
Wapakoneta’s lone win came at first singles, where Makenzie Klock defeated the Riders’ Mariah Krugh, 6-2, 6-1.
In exhibition matches, Bailey Gottschalk and Katie Klingshirn won a doubles match, 8-1. Katie Lutz and Jessica Hardeman won, 8-1. Hailey McGee and Sheby Kovar fell in a match, 6-7 on a 7-4 tiebreaker. Abby Wilker and Alaina Lewis won, 7-3. Beth Hertenstein and Anna Ernst fell, 3-1.
Girls Golf: Minster 173, Lincolnview 233
MINSTER — The Minster girls golf team won its 12th match of the season with a 173-233 win over Lincolnview at Arrowhead on Monday night.
Kelly Mueller led the way with a medalist 39 for the Wildcats.
Annie Burke added a 42, Claire Fischer shot a 46 and Margo Slonkosky carded a 46.
Girls Golf: Marion Local 219, New Bremen 231
MINSTER — Marion Local topped the New Bremen girls golf team in a MAC match at Arrowhead on Monday.
Mackenzie Howell led New Bremen with a 51 to earn medalist honors.
Sydney Holdren added a 56, Rachel Parker shot a 57, Shannon Roediger had a 67, Makayla Schott carded a 78 and Lydia Flynn had an 81.
New Bremen fell to 1-8, 1-5 in the MAC.
Marion Local’s Kelsey Smith turned in the lowest score for the Flyers with a 52. Marion Local is 5-4, 3-2 in the MAC.
Boys Golf: Wapakoneta 183,St. Marys 185
WAPAKONETA — No scores were available.
St. Marys will be back in action on Thursday at Ottawa-Glandorf.
Boys Golf: Minster 154, New Knoxville 187
MINSTER — The Minster boys golf team had three golfers break 40 and rolled to a Midwest Athletic Conference win on Monday at Arrowhead.
Austin Fischer fired a medalist-earning and season-best even par 36 to lead Minster. Freddie Purdy added a 38, Xavier Francis shot a 39, Matt Wuebker fired a 41, Josh Tumbusch had a 43 and John Burke carded a 44 for Minster.
Tyler Shreve was low-man for New Knoxville with a 44. Justin Slaven added a 45, Michael Porter and Colton Shreve shot a pair of 49s, Brandon Steinke shot a 55 and David Boesche had a 59.
Minster improved to 5-1 on the season.
Boys Golf: Versailles 163, Parkway 172
VERSAILLES — Versailles downed Parkway’s boys golf team in a Midwest Athletic Conference match at Stillwater Valley on Monday.
Brian Schatzer led Parkway with a 41. Jordan Ballenbacker had a 42, Jordan Stephenson had a 44 and Austen Stuckey added a 45.
Tyler Drees was medalist for Versailles with a 38.
Volleyball: Marion Local 3, Jackson Center 0
JACKSON CENTER — The Flyers picked up a 25-14, 25-16, 25-14 win over Jackson Center in non-conference play.Margaret Wuebker had 10 kills and four blocks for Marion Local. Brooke Winner, Claire Heitkamp and Gina Kramer each had five kills. Marion Local improved to 4-1 on the season.
