Carter Bowman shot a 33 on Monday night at Northmoor.

St. Marys junior Carter Bowman fired a 3-under 33 to lead the St. Marys boys golf team to a 163-166 win over the Shawnee Indians in a Western Buckeye League opener at Northmoor on Monday.

Bowman missed out on the school record by one stroke. Both Mark Bergman in 2001 and Drew Paulus in 2003 shot 32s, the program’s best.

St. Marys’ Colin Burke added a 39. Kyle Kiefer had a 41 to lead the Roughriders  (1-0, 1-0 WBL) to a win.

Ian Hasting paced Shawnee with a one-over par 37.  colin Hennon had a 42, and Jordan Cole shot a 43.

Shawnee fell to 1-1, 0-1 in the WBL.

St. Marys travels to Kenton on Thursday for another WBL match.

The New Bremen boys golf team improved to 2-0 in conference play with a 177-204 win over the Coldwater Cavaliers on Monday. Travis Bertelsen and Alex Britton both fired 43s to lead the Cardinals as medalists. Zach Hegemier carded a 45. Max Travis added a 46 for the 177 team score. Jacob O’Neill shot a 50, and Markus Sachtler had a 57 for the Cardinals. Mitch Diller led Coldwater with a 49.  New Bremen travels to St. Henry on Thursday.

The Minster boys golf team rolled to a 20-stroke win over the Fort Recovery Indians in a Midwest Athletic Conference opener on Monday evening. Xavier Francis’ medalist 35 led the way. John Burke fired an even-par 36. Freddie Purdy shot a 39. Austin Brackman added a 43.

BATH 141, CELINA 161
Bath’s Brady Garver’s 33 led the Wildcats to a 20-stroke win over Celina on Monday. Stephen Fleck led Celina with a 38.

Girls Golf
New Bremen’s girls golf team opened MAC play with a 201-212 win over the Coldwater Cavaliers. Coldwater’s Kelsey Koesters was medalist with a 40. Mackenzie Howell and Rachel Parker each carded 46s to lead New Bremen. Sara Lafleur shot a 54 and Sydney Holdren had a 55. Heather Bensman shot a 60. Amy Schmitmeyer added a 63 for the Cardinals.


Lima Shawnee powered to a 5-0 win over the St. Marys girls tennis team in a Western Buckeye League opening match on Monday night. At first singles, Isabella Baird defeated St. Marys’ Anna Ernst, 6-1, 6-0. Shawnee’s AnitaKottapalli won straight sets over St. Marys’ Hanna Felver, 6-0, 6-0 at second singles. Shawnee’s Monica Glick defeated the Riders’ Bailey Rust at third singles, 6-2, 6-1. At first doubles, Shawnee’s team of Morgan Holloway and Nkiru Anigbogu beat Abby Wilker and Jennifer Lauth of St. Marys, 6-1, 6-0. Shawnee’s second doubles team of Jazmine Binod and Alexis Wei won 6-1, 6-0 over Avaraie Ellis and Jenna Perry of St. Marys.

Celina’s Kalie Gardner, Sasha Jenkins, Brooke Sutter and the doubles teams of Sabrina Smith and Leah Zurcher and Maddy Cline and Nicole Elston all picked up victories over Bath. Celina improved to 3-2, 1-0 in the WBL.


Wapakoneta's Allie Zofkie, Rachel Roberts and teams of Chelsea Myers and Kiersten Wellon and Carly Buzzard and Mackenzie Haverman earned wins.
