Minster Sweeps MAC Cross Country Championships

COLDWATER — The Minster boys and girls cross country teams captured Midwest Athletic Conference cross country titles, fending off strong competition atop the leaderboard to add to the storied programs’ list of conference titles.

Boys

The Minster boys scored 58 points and held off rival New Bremen, which had 61 points for the MAC crown. St. Henry finished third. New Knoxville turned in a sixth-place finish with 146 points.

Coldwater’s Jon Wenning was the boys champion with a 16:00 time. New Knoxville’s Isaac Kuntz was the top Auglaize County finisher in fourth with a 16:19 time. Minster’s Dominic Slonkosky took fifth (16:26), Andy Albers of Minster was sixth (16:34) and New Bremen’s Cort Speckman finished seventh (16:57). Ben Butler of Minster was ninth (16:57), New Bremen’s Nathan Herriott rounded out the top 10 with a 17:07 time.

New Bremen’s Drew McClurg was 12th (17:16), Nathan Herriott of New Bremen was 12th (17:16) and the Cardinals’ Brad Rammel was 13th (17:27). Minster’s Andrew Fausey finished 14th (17:32) and New Knoxville’s Jacob Shaw ran 17th (17:37). New Bremen’s Jason Zircher finished 19th (17:45).

Team Standings: 1. Minster 58, 2. New Bremen 61, 3. St. Henry 74, 4. Coldwater 83, 5. Versailles 129, 6. New Knoxville 146, 7. Fort Recovery 161, 8. Delphos St. John's 237, 9. Parkway 251, 10. Marion Local 260.

Girls

The Minster girls team’s 37 points captured the girls MAC championship. Coldwater, with the top three individual finishers in the race, scored 44 points. Verailles took third. New Bremen finished seventh with 185 points.

Sarah Kanney and Christina Seas of Coldwater ran away with the top two spots, turning in times of 17:54 and 17:55 — more than a minute better than anyone else on the course.

Minster’s Morgan Pohl finished fourth overall with a 19:19 time. Katherine Burke finished sixth (19:42). New Knoxville’s Cassie Boyle was the top Ranger runner with a seventh-place finish and 19:44 time. Minster’s Kaci Bornhorst was eighth (19:49), New Knoxville’s Hannah Privette took 10th (19:51).

Minster’s Lisa Barlage took 12th (19:55), Gabrielle Barga was 14th (20:05), Julia Slonkosky took 15th (20:08), Olivia Enneking took 18th (20:34) and Maggie Meiring took 20th (20:43).

Aly Elking was New Bremen’s top finisher in 25th (21:02).
