MINSTER — The Minster softball team  stayed on a roll. Monday evening the Wildcats got six runs in the first three innings and shutout the Coldwater Cavaliers 8-0 in a MAC contest at Four Seasons Park in Minster.

“They hit the ball pretty well tonight,” Minster head coach Scott Robinson said. “It took a couple of innings to figure her out but once they did they started smacking the ball around.”

Several players had good games for Minster. Rachel Heckaman was 1 for 3 with a triple and Marissa Conrad was 4 for 4 with a triple and two runs batted in and Alexis Robinson was 1 for 2 with a run batted in. Kathhy Prenger was 1 for 3 with two runs batted in.

Kayla Richard got the complete game victory for Minster as she shutout the Cavaliers on only two hits. She struck out eight and walked only one and hit two batters.

“Kayla was battling a hip flexor the whole game,” Robinson said. “I thought she pitched great. The zone was a little tight early but she found it and worked into it because Coldwater can hit the ball well. Ken Fisher does a good job with his players.”

The Wildcats (12-1, 3-0) will entertain Covington on Wednesday in a makeup game.
