Minster rolls to win over Parkway
ROCKFORD — On a cold rainy football Friday night at Rockford, the Minster Wildcats dominated the Parkway Panthers in Midwest Athletic Conference action, 43-16.
“I thought our kids did a nice job,” said Minster coach Nate Moore. “We had some things to overcome. We were playing an 0-6 ball team, those aren’t the easier games to get up for and with the weather it was terrible so we had alot on the line we were playing for and it is easy to trip up on those situations and obviously we didn’t do that we came out and played well. I am happy with our effort and everything that happened.”
The Wildcats cracked the scoreboard at the 5:06 mark of the first quarter when Adam Niemeyer’s 40- yard pass was complete to Ethan Wolf. Minster went for the two-point conversion and made it happen as Niemeyer found Kurtis Thobe in the endzone.
The Wildcats struck again when Niemeyer ran 42-yards into the endzone for a touchdown with 14 seconds left in the opening quarter. Devon Poeppelman’s extra point was blocked by Austin Dennison.
The Panthers couldn’t hold on to the ball for long as Tate Carlon intercepted Dennison’s pass at the 13-yard line and took it in for a touchdown 12 seconds after Niemeyer scored. The two-point conversion was good after when Niemeyer’s pass was completed to Wolf in the endzone for a 20-0 Wildcats lead.
Minster converted again at the 6:10 mark of the second quarter when Korey Schultz converted a 2-yard run for a touchdown. Shultz also converted the two-point conversion.
The visiting team added to their score when Shutlz ran 85-yards with 1:16 left in the half and Niemeyer’s pass to Wolf in the endzone for the two-point conversion was good as Minster went into the locker room with a commanding 36-0 advantage.
