Minster girls track and field rolls to Versailles invite win
VERSAILLES — Minster girls track coach Jessie Magoto didn’t know how her team would look after a preseason training period filled with cold temperatures, snow and more time indoors than outdoors heading into Saturday’s opening event at the Lady Tiger Classique.
“I pretty much told them, ‘Let’s practice and compete at the same time, because we just don’t have very many options,’” Magoto said. “It was wonderful to have great weather and just relax and get some benchmark times and distances and see where we’re at.”
It turned out to be quite a practice.
On a day of temperatures crept into the mid-60s in Darke County and sunshine splashed all over the track the Wildcats roared to another Lady Tiger Classique victory in the black division with 188 points and seven first-place victories in events.
“Just to see a wide variety of areas, that’s what I like to see,” Magoto. “If we can spread things out a little more and have some depth in multiple areas, that’s a good sign early on.”
