Melvin J. Evers, 79, of Fort Recovery, died on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.

He was born on Feb. 25, 1932, in Fort Recovery, to Stephen Evers and Agnes Fiely.

On May 16, 1953, in St. Rose, he married Mary (Voskuhl) Evers, and she survives.

He is also survived by four sons, Mike (Mary) Evers of Fort Recovery, Marion (Jayma) Evers of Fort Recovery, Marvin Evers of Fort Recovery and Martin (Heather) Evers of Fort Recovery; five daughters, Marilyn (Ernest) Wendel of St. Henry, Madonna Evers of Edmonton, Ky., Mary Agnes (Chris) Moorman of St. Henry, Martha (Scott) Trobridge of Fort Recovery and Margaret “Peg” (Gary) Lange of St. Henry; two sisters; two brothers; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister; three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Wendelin, with the Rev. Benedict Magabe officiating.

Burial will be held in St. Wendelin Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Friday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home in Fort Recovery.
