Melvin E. Luthman, 78, of Botkins, died at 10:05 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family. 

He was born on Dec. 30, 1934, in Sidney, to the late Bernard and Amelia (Raterman) Luthman. 

He married Agnes Esser on Oct. 10, 1959, in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville. She survives in Botkins. 

He is also survived by children Greg and Tammy Luthman of Botkins, Lorie and Todd Grow of Columbus, Jon and Jane Luthman of Botkins, Steve and Elaine Luthman of Anna, Alan and Kathy Luthman of Anna and Michael Luthman of Sidney; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister. 

He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, McCartyville, the Rev. John Tonkin, officiant. 

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. 

Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Church and Grand Lake Hospice.
