Master Sgt. Larry L. Cathcart, 60

Master Sgt. Larry L. Cathcart, 60, USAF (ret.), of 1202 Hawthorne St., St. Marys, died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at his residence.

He was born on Nov. 24, 1951, in Celina, to James and Wilma (Spaulding) Cathcart, and his father preceded him in death. His mother survives him in St. Marys.

On Aug. 29, 1971, in St. Marys, he married Carol J. Peterman, and she survives.

He is also survived by a brother, Steve Cathcart of Fort Wayne, Ind.; his nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Leona Peterman of St. Marys.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jeff Cathcart; his father-in-law, Dale Peterman.

He was a 1970 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and received a bachelor’s degree in sociology and criminal justice from University of Maryland.

He retired with the rank of master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. He then worked as a health care administrator at several area nursing homes, most recently for Trilogy Health Services in Greenville.

He was a member of Hartford Christian Church in rural Spencerville.

Rites are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Miller – Long & Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High St., St. Marys, with the Rev. Robert King officiating.

Burial, with full graveside military honors, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home on High Street.
