Maryhelen “Mari” Dorfmeier, 85

Maryhelen “Mari” Dorfmeier, 85, a resident of Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, formerly of Randolph Township in Montgomery County, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Otterbein St. Marys.

She was born on Jan. 4, 1927, in Carroll County, the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Armstrong) Roudebush, and they preceded her in death.

On June 9, 1947, in Carrollton, she married William Dorfmeier, and he preceded her in death on March 14, 2003.

She is survived by her four children, Suzanne (Thomas) Knopp of Vandalia, Diana (Christopher) Lindley of Cumming, Ga., Wendy Dorfmeier of Gahanna and Matthew (Janet) Dorfmeier of Englewood; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ramona Jean Caulder of Summerville, S.C.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Prohaska.

Mari was a graduate of Carroll County High School, and she attended The Ohio State University. She served as a paralegal in the law office of her husband for many years.

Mari was very involved with her former church, the Mount Olivet United Church of Christ in Madison Township. She had written and produced a play  and a television program for the church.

The focus of Mari’s life was her family and her church. She also enjoyed reading and the study of literature. In her spare time she enjoyed writing poetry.

Friends and family are invited to share memories of Mari from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, where the Rev. David Woodyard will lead a prayer service.

Private family burial rites will be held at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
