Mary Ann Seger, 85

Mary Ann Seger, 85, of 255 N. Garfield St., Minster, died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 16, 1926, in Shelby County, to John and Mary C. (Meyer) Dircksen, and they preceeded her in death.

On June 4, 1947, she married Jerome B. Seger, and he preceded her in death on June 17, 1991. She is survived by her children, Teresa and Jim Hamaker of Sidney, Doris Bilter of Oswega, Ill., Connie and Bill Grillot of Versailles, Bonnie and Steve Brunson of McCartyville, Ted and Lois Seger of Minster, Phyllis and Steve Collins of Minster, Laurie Seger of Minster and Tina and Ted Riethman of Minster; her grandchildren, Kendra, Jill, Erin and Kristen Hamaker, Margo, Brad, Adam, Ben and Mindy Bilter, Renee Barga, Sarah Jacobs, Ed, Jason, Carl, Alan, Colleen, Mary and Christopher Grillot, Stephanie Jordan, Tara Dohner, Travis and Mark Brunson, Jennifer Hayden, Angie Muhlenkamp, Craig and Stacey Seger, Derek and Jenna Collins and Nathan, Josh and Kyle Riethman; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren; a sister-in-law, Anna Marie Dircksen in Egypt; two in-laws, Bertha Seger of Yorkshire and Richard Middendorf of Fort Loramie.

She was preceded in death by a son, Vernon J. Seger, who on died Oct. 24, 1969; a son-in-law, Bruce Bilter; four brothers, Henry, Albert, Herman and John Dircksen

Mary Ann was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster, a Gold Star Mother and a member of the FOE 1391 Auxiliary of Minster. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and was an avid bowler until the age of 82.

She was employed at Heritage Manor Nursing Center until 1978 and then volunteered there until 2011. She was named Volunteer of the Year in 2010.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Church, with the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Hogenakmp Funeral Home in Minster.
