Mary Ann Brotherwood, 86, of 922 Hendricks Ave. in St. Marys, died at 8:59 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born on April 18, 1928, in St. Marys, to Harry R. and Elizabeth Rachel (Miller) Boltz.
On April 4, 1953, in Portland, Ind., she married Donald L. Brotherwood, who survives.
She is also survived by three sons, Donald (Nancy) Brotherwood of St. Marys, Steven (Teresa) Brotherwood of St. Marys and Dean (Ann) Brotherwood of St. Marys, four daughters, Elizabeth (Mark) Hemmert of Botkins, Amy (Glenn) Norman of St. Marys, Susan (Don) Henline of St. Marys and Susan LaFleur of St. Marys, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a sister, Jane Boltz, of Coldwater.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Louise McDermitt, Esther Boltz and Jean Ackley and three brothers, Bill Boltz, Harry Boltz Jr. and Louis Boltz.
She was a homemaker and worked as a waitress for several area restaurants. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in St. Marys.
Her favorite pastimes included collecting dolls, cooking and baking, growing flowers in her garden, following Cincinnati Reds baseball and spoiling her dog, Sissy.
Mary Ann will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who truly enjoyed caring for her family.
Rites are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Miller – Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High St. Chapel, in St. Marys.
Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home on High Street.
