Mary Alberta “Birdie” Edwards, 87
Mary Alberta “Birdie” Edwards, 87, of Sidney, went home to be with her Lord at 1:05 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Fair Haven Nursing Home in Sidney. She was born on Nov. 12, 1926, to the late Wesley O. and Nellie M. (Chiles) Schroerlucke.
On May 6, 1945, she married Kenneth “Kenny” Edwards. He preceded her in death.
Birdie is survived by one daughter, Peggy Lynn Edwards of Sidney, one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin (Shelley) Edwards of Arizona, one sister, Ruth E. Meyers of Sidney, two sisters-in-law, Helen L. Fogt and Martha E. Schroerlucke and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Brunetta, two brothers, Robert Schroerlucke and Richard Schroerlucke and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerry F. Meyers, Robert A. Fogt, Lowell Edwards, Howard Edwards, Naberta Jean Edwards and Gertrude Edwards.
Birdie was a 1944 graduate of Sidney High School. She was a member of First Christian Church in Sidney.
Birdie worked at Wagner Manufacturing, Baumfolder and Clancy’s in Sidney. She also made pies for the Spot Restaurant for many years. Birdie volunteered as a camp ranger at Camp Brookside Girl Scout Camp in Sidney for many years, helping her husband, Kenny, while doing so.
Funeral services will begin at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, the Rev. Philip Chilcote officiating.
Burial will follow in Cedar Point Cemetery, Pasco.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 320 E. Russell Road, Sidney, OH, 45365.
