Marvin B. Kishler, 91

Marvin B. Kishler, 91, formerly of 132 Sturgeon St. in St. Marys, died at 10:25 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at St. Marys Living Center.

He was born on April 14, 1921, in St. Marys, to Willis and Mary (Clover) Kishler.

On Oct. 20, 1945, in San Diego, Calif., he married Betty A. Behm, who died on March 29, 2003.

Survivors include two sons, M. Bruce (Fredrica) Kishler  of Van Wert and John (Michelle) Kishler  of Celina; five grandchildren, Scott Kishler, Christine Bakle, Jessica Kishler, Claire Gau and Amanda Nester; five great-grandchildren, Alex and Patrick Bakle, Owen Gau, Tristen Nester and Brooke Gau.

He was preceded in death by parents, Willis and Mary Kishler; brother W. Jack Kishler; two sisters, Clover Louise Kishler and Mary Jo Knobel.

He was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School (Class of 1938) and DePaul University in Chicago, Ill., where he played college football.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.

He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in St. Marys, where he was a chemical engineer.

He was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church in St. Marys and St. Marys Outing Club (Idlewild).

His favorite pastime was playing golf.

Services are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Miller – Long and Folk Funeral Home (314 W. High Street Chapel) in St. Marys.

Burial, with full graveside military rites, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.

Visitation will be held from  1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
