Marilynne J. Schroer, 85

Marilynne J. Schroer, 85, formerly of 2208 Kensington Drive, St. Marys, and a resident of Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Otterbein St. Marys.

She was born on April 4, 1928, in Wapakoneta, the daughter of L.E. and Bernice (Kohler) Brandt.

She married Elvin “Gene” Schroer on May 9, 1948, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Wapakoneta, and he preceded her in death on March 11, 1998.

She is survived by her two children, Chris (Georgiana) Schroer of St. Marys and Cindy (Jack) Miley of Celina, by three grandchildren, Sara (Joshua) Watson, Elvin (Lisa) Schroer, and Jason (Tracy) Miley and by seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and by three brothers, William, Robert and Thomas Brandt.

Marilynne was a 1946 graduate of Blume High School. She attended Bowling Green State University. She was a farm wife and a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in St. Marys, where she was a longtime choir member and Sunday School teacher. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.

Funeral rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, the Rev. Dr. Ed Bray, officiant.

Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where memorial donations may be given to either Grand Lake Hospice or St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.

Friends may also call one hour prior to the funeral rites on Wednesday at the funeral home.
