Marie L. Cordier, 82

Marie L. Cordier, 82, formerly of 08361 Burd Road, Celina,  died at 7 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011, at Hospice of Dayton.

She was born on Dec. 7, 1928, in Wapakoneta, to Guy and Alma (Sandkuhl) Benzing, and they preceded her in death.

On May 24, 1954, in St. Marys, she married Paul F. Cordier, and he preceded her in death on June 22, 2000.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane (Roger) Young  of Centerville, Joyce Cordier  of Hilliard; two grandsons, Jason Young and Christopher Young; a sister, Sue Miller  of New Bremen; a sister-in-law , Janice Benzing of Adrian, Mich.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Benzing; a brother-in-law, Arthur Miller.

She was a 1947 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. She was a homemaker and farm wife. Always willing to lend a helping hand, she was involved as a 4-H adviser in Neptune and helped start the Girl Scouts troop in St. Marys. She was a member of the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in St. Marys. Her favorite pastimes included cooking, crocheting and all family centered activities. She also served as a resident volunteer for Bethany Lutheran Village in Dayton.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel), St. Marys, with the Rev. Becky Erb-Strang, officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys. Visitation will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
