Marie C. (Ratterman) Meinerding, 87

Marie C. (Ratterman) Meinerding, 87, formerly of Louis Street, Fort Loramie, passed away of natural causes Sunday morning, Oct. 30, 2011, at the Versailles Health Care Center, where she had been a resident.

She was born on Jan. 3, 1924, in Dayton, to George and Jane (Barga) Ratterman, and they preceded her in death.

On June 21, 1947, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie, Marie was married to Ivo H. Mienerding, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1996.  

She is survived by five children, John (Debra) Meinerding of Fort Loramie, William (Christine) Meinerding of Fort Loramie, Patricia (Louis) Siegrist of Fort Loramie, Carol (Thomas) Brinkman of Delaware and Mark (Jane) Meinerding of Fort Loramie; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Dressman of Sidney and Jeanette (Ed) Giere of Maria Stein; a sister-in-law, Sr. Mary Regina Meinerding of St. Louis, Mo.  

She was preceded in death by one infant son, Michael Meinerding; three brothers; three sisters.  

Marie attended St. Michael Catholic Church and was a member of St. Ann’s Ladies Sodality.  

Having joined at age 16, Marie was active in the Knights of St. John Ladies Auxillary for more than 70 years.

She was a 1942 graduate of Fort Loramie High School.

Marie was a homemaker. Years ago, she had also been a presser at the Fort Loramie Dry Cleaners and then the Minster Dry Cleaners. Marie enjoyed crossword puzzles, cryptograms, scratch-off lottery tickets and Tuesday card club.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie, with the Rev. Tom Mannebach officating. Interment will follow at the St. Michael Cemetery.  

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
