Margaret A. Meckstroth, 93

Margaret A. Meckstroth, 93, formerly of New Bremen, died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2011, at the Otterbein of St. Marys.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1918, in New Bremen, to Lafe and Hilda (Neuman) Dammeyer, and they preceded her in death.

On June 19, 1941, she married Rueben H. Meckstroth, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 1996.

She is survived by her children, Patricia (Robert) Snyder of New Knoxville, Betty (Robert) Dietrich of New Bremen and Richard (JoAnn) Meckstroth of St. Marys; grandchildren, Deb (John) Katterheinrich of New Knoxville, Teresa (Ed) Stephens of Anna, Jill (Ben) Baumer of Minster, Darin (Julie) Schroeder of New Knoxville, Stacey (Andrew) Dudas of Hamilton, Matt (Katie) Dietrich of New Bremen, Melissa (Shawn) Rodriques of St. Marys, Mandi (Tony) Bruns of New Bremen, Josh Snyder of Nobelsville, Ind., and Jordan Snyder of Nobelsville, Ind.; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Dammeyer of St. Marys; her in-laws, Norman Meckstroth of Celina, LaRue and John Dicke of Celina, Kathryn Meckstroth of Wapakoneta and Sally Meckstroth of New Bremen.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Schroeder; a brother, Paul Dammeyer; a sister, Delilah Braun.

Mrs. Meckstroth was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen. She was a 1935 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed music.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m.  Thursday at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, with the Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating. Burial will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen.

The family will receive friends one hour before services at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church memorial fund or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
