Margaret L. “Marge” Menchhofer, 91

Margaret L. “Marge” Menchhofer, 91, formerly of 706 Magnolia Drive, St. Marys, a resident of the St. Marys Living Center, died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the St. Marys Living Center.

She was born on March 15, 1921, in Auglaize County, the daughter of Charles and Matty Marie (Schlechty) Hay, and they preceded her in death.

On April 12, 1942, she married Martin E. Menchhofer, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 2011.

She is survived by her children, Larry (Vera) Menchhofer of South Bloomingville, Sherry Howey (and friend, Ed White) of Columbus and Steve (Mary) Menchhofer of Rockbridge; a granddaughter, Suzanne Menchhofer of McMinnville, Ore.; a brother-in-law, Cletus Ballweg of St. Marys.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Hay and Charles “Bud” Hay; a sister, Pauline Ballweg.

Marge was a 1939 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. She had worked at the Celina Insurance Group for many years. She and her husband, Martin, had lived in Fort Wayne, Ind., for a number of years before returning back to their roots. She was a member of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church in St. Marys.

Funeral rites will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, with the Rev. Jon Kraner officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may  be given to Wayne Street United Methodist Church.
