Man Robbed In Wapak

WAPAKONETA — Wapakoneta Police Department officers are still looking for male suspect who robbed a fuel tank driver at the Clark gas station in downtown Wapakoneta at 1:06 a.m. today.

A 38-year-old Willshire man was delivering fuel to the gasoline station when the suspect produced a knife and demanded the victim’s wallet, Wapakoneta Police Chief Russ Hunlock said in a news release. The suspect then fled on foot from the scene.

Officers arrived on the scene and K-9 Rico was used to track the suspect. He tracked the suspect a few blocks to the south where his scent was lost.

The victim described the person as a male, wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt. No additional description was provided.

Officers recovered the wallet which was missing $20.

The gas station was not open at the time of the armed robbery and no one was injured in the incident.

Deputies with the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the call. The incident remains under investigation.
