Magician Coming To New Bremen

November 6, 2012

NEW BREMEN — After winning NBC’s “Phenomenon,” some area residents may be familiar with Mike Super, the first magician to win a live magic competition on primetime network television.

The magician, who has been named Entertainer of the Year and Best Performing Artist of the Year, has also performed for Ellen DeGeneres, Jay Leno and Regis Philbin, among others, and will now travel to New Bremen for a local show.

Lock One Community Arts will welcome Super at 7 p.m. Saturday to the James F. Dicke Auditorium at New Bremen High School for its second show of “The Season of Our Dreams.” Lock One Community Arts President Bev Poppe noted the quality of Super’s show.

“He’s a nationally-known magician/illusionist. His show is of a very high quality, he does some very unusual magic tricks and illusions,” she said, noting he can make large objects, such as a car, disappear. “He is quite talented and quite a showman. It’s a family-oriented show that anyone from 5 to 105 can enjoy.”

Super connects with his audience through his tricks, according to his website.

“The secret to Mike’s success is his natural ability to entertain and fascinate people,” Super’s biography reads. “He has pioneered a new form of magic with his own inimitable, down-to-earth style and personality. Mike has brought the art of magic back to the people. He transcends the ‘trick’ and connects personally with his audience on a level they can relate to. Whether it’s through television, stage or simply one-on-one, Mike Super’s personality and humor reaches out and enchants the public.”

Tickets are on sale now for $20 for adults and $12 for students.

“If they want to pick them up ahead of time, they are available out at Western Ohio True Value, and if they just want to pick them up at the door, there will be some available that evening,” Poppe said.

A meet and greet with Super is also scheduled to be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. in the New Bremen High School commons. Tickets for the meet and greet are $5 and are available at Western Ohio True Value in Minster.

Poppe encouraged area residents to head to New Bremen High School to experience Super’s show.

“If they really want to enjoy themselves Saturday evening, that’s the place to be,” she said. “It’ll be fun for everyone.”
