Madella M. J. Heidt, 91, formerly of 12246 Glynwood - New Knoxville Road in New Knoxville, died at 12:34 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Elmwood of New Bremen.
She was born on June 20, 1921, in Shelby County, to Christian and Lenora (May) Jung.
On May 8, 1940, at St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church in New Bremen, she married Vernon Heidt, who died on Sept. 25, 2006.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris Heindel of Rockford; a son, Orville (Bonnie) Heidt of New Knoxville; four grandchildren, Allan Heindel, Alane Johnson, Beth Heidt and Amy (Shawn) Sayers; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph (Carolyn) Jung of Sidney; a sister Gertrude Miller of Pandora.
She was preceded in death by parents Christian and Lenora Jung; husband Vernon Heidt; son David Heidt; grandsons Scott Heindel and Bryan Heindel; a son-in-law, Wayne Heindel; brothers Lester Jung, Victor Jung, Nelson Jung and Leon Jung; sisters La Rose Jung, Frances Warner and Annabelle Tontrup.
She was a farm wife and worked as seasonal help at Kuck's Turkey Farm in New Knoxville.She was a member of First United Church of Christ and its Women's Guild, New Knoxville Senior Citizens and JTDM Hospital Guild. Her favorite pastime was playing card games, especially sheephead and pinochle.
Rites are scheduled to begin 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, the Rev. Dr. David Williams, officiating.
Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Ministry Center of the church.
