 MAC Golf Championships: Minster girls capture MAC title

CELINA — The Minster girls golf team captured the Midwest Athletic Conference championship, while the Wildcat boys finished fourth at the boys tourney at Fox’s Den in Celina on Saturday.

Girls Tourney

Minster lapped the field with a 378-stroke finish — besting second-place Versailles by 22 strokes.

Claire Fischer fired the lowest Minster score with an 88. Kelly Mueller added an 89. Marissa Conrad shot a 98 and Margo Slonkosky added a 103.

New Bremen took sixth at the MAC meet, shooting a 485 team score.

Rachel Parker led New Bremen with a 101. Mackenzie Powell shot a 117. Sydney Holdren shot a 129, and Sara LaFleur shot a 138.

Minster won both the regular season and tournament titles to be the league champ with 24 points.

Coldwater’s Kelsey Koesters shot an 85 to earn tournament medalist for the Cavaliers, who took fourth in the tournament.

Boys Tourney

The Minster boys golf team entered the MAC meet coming off a big win over Versailles to earn a share of the regular season title, but the momentum was slowed on Saturday.

Minster finished fourth at the MAC meet to finish the conference season in third place.

Delphos St. John’s and regular season co-champion Versailles tied atop the leaderboard with 342 strokes, before DSJ won the tiebreaker. Parkway finished third with 347 strokes, while Minster took fourth with 357 strokes.

New Bremen finished eighth with 369 strokes and New Knoxville finished 10th with 417 strokes.

Fort Recovery’s Jared Kahlig shot a 75 to earn medalist honors.

Xavier Francis and Austin Fischer both shot 85s to pace Minster. Matt Wuebker shot a 90 and Freddie Purdy had a 91.

Darin Bergman shot a 78 to lead New Bremen. Tyler Nosek shot a 93, Jordan Diller had a 94 and Mitch Diller carded a 100.

New Knoxville’s Tyler Shreve shot an 86 to lead the way for the Rangers. Micahel Porter shot a 101, Davie Boesche had a 110 and Ryan Schott shot a 110.

Bergman, Fischer, Francis and Shreve were named All-MAC for their performances.

The Div. III sectional will be contested this week.
