NEW KNOXVILLE — The New Knoxville girls basketball team built up a lead early and held off the St. Henry Redskins 45-33 in a MAC contest on Thursday night at the Barn.
“We got out in front of them in the key part of the game at the beginning,” Rangers head coach Tim Hegemier said. “We started out strong and got a 10 or 12 point lead and it helps, but we have to be ready to play.”
Paige Lehman scored 21 points and had six rebounds in the game for New Knoxville.
The Rangers (3-1, 2-0) entertain Botkins on Tuesday and travel to Marion Local on Thursday, while St. Henry (1-1, 0-1) will play LCC Saturday at Fort Recovery.

MINSTER — Chelsea Winner finished with a game-high 19 points for the Flyers.
Kayla Wuebker and Bridget Geiger led Minster with 10 points apiece.
Fort Recovery 62, New Bremen 43
FORT RECOVERY — Kyle Kahlig scored a game-high 20 points and Fort Recovery jumped out to a 21-point halftime lead and picked up a 62-43 Midwest Athletic Conference-opening victory over the New Bremen girls basketball team on Thursday night at the Fort Site.
Kyla Otting scored 13 to lead New Bremen and Haley Moeller added 10 points.
Along with Kahlig’s 20 points, Kelly Nietfeld scored 14 points for Fort Recovery.
Coldwater 43, Delphos St. John’s 36
Coldwater freshman guard Sarah Kanney scored 13 points as the Cavaliers upended Delphos St. John's.
Shelby Reindel led the Blue Jays with 13 points.
