Louis William Doenges, 91

Louis William Doenges, 91, of 8861 Guadalupe Road, New Bremen, died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater.

He was born on May 7, 1920, in St. Marys, to William J. and Marie (Oldiges) Doenges, and they preceded him in death.

On Aug. 19, 1944, in McCartyville, he married Lucille K. Huecker, and she preceded him in death on March 2, 2005.

He is survived by 15 children, Susan (James) Wagner of Celina, Andrew (Jan) Doenges of New Bremen, Joseph (Sharon) Doenges of Sugarland, Texas, Nancy  (Patrick) Fitzgerald of Bowling Green, Fran (Mick) Hanselman of Ashtabula, William (Edith) Doenges of St. Marys, Mark (Terri) Doenges of Wapakoneta, Rita (Ralph) Tobe of Coldwater, Greg (Carol) Doenges of Philothea, Therese (Bill) Pohlman of Versailles, Edward (Marge) Doenges of New Bremen, Kathleen (Rob) Tucker of Radford, Va., Barb Doenges of Kuwait City, Kuwait, Jeff Doenges of Bethesda, Md., and Amy (Shawn) Brady of Springboro; 39 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a brother; a sister; a sister-in-law.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the Panama Canal Zone.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Montezuma, with the Rev. Rick Friebel, C.PP.S., officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery in Montezuma with full military honors.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home-Coldwater.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Peter Neurological Center and to State of the Heart Hospice.
