Lora Collins, 75, of 1708 Nagel St., St. Marys, died suddenly at 6:02 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.
She was born on Jan. 8, 1936, in Mousie, Ky., the daughter of Troy and Biddie (Wicker) Chaffins, and they preceded her in death.
On March 5, 1955, she married Morrell Collins, and he survives her at the residence.
She is also survived by her two children, Lutrena (Dan) Slusser of Celina and Amain (Sue) Collins of Celina; four grandchildren, Michael Slusser, Dustin Collins, Jeremy Collins and Makayla Slusser; a great-grandson, Mason Collins; her siblings, Ballard Chaffins of St. Marys, Myrtle Johnson of Kendallville, Ind., Cora Fields of Hindman, Ky., Dora Lewis of Crossville, Tenn., and Sally Fairchild of St. Marys.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Coy Chaffins, James Chaffins, Richard Chaffins, Paris Chaffins and Leo Chaffins.
Lora was a 1953 graduate of Hindman High School. She graduated from Alice Lloyd College and earned her master’s degree at Ohio Northern University. She retired after 30 years of service from the Parkway Local Schools, where she was a kindergarten teacher. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in St. Marys.
Her children and grandchildren were her life.
Funeral rites will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Church of The Nazarene in St. Marys, with the Rev. Tim Smith and the Rev. Bill Drummond officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, where memorial donations may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene.
