WAPAKONETA — A Logan County man died from injuries he suffered in a two-car collision Wednesday night near Waynesfield.

According to a report from the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Michael E. Ford, 26, of Belle Center, was driving a 2003 Hyundai Accent southeast on Ohio 117 at approximately 10:24 p.m. Wednesday. Brandon R. Fetter, 21, of Waynesfield, was driving a 1998 Acura 3.0 CL northwest on Ohio 117. Fetter attempted to turn left onto Fairmount Road and struck Ford’s vehicle head on. Fetter’s vehicle slid off the left side of the road and into a ditch. Ford’s vehicle came to rest on Ohio 117 and both vehicles sustained severe, disabling damage.

Ford was pronounced dead at the scene by officials with the Auglaize County Coroner’s Office. He was transported by Armentrout Funeral Home in Waynesfield. Fetter was transported by Uniopolis EMS to Lima Memorial Hospital for incapacitating injuries.

Troopers noted Ford was not wearing a properly adjusted seat belt and alcohol may be a contributing factor in the collision. The incident remains under investigation.
