Local pro to play 100 holes of golf for charity

June 14, 2011

MINSTER — Ashley Wilt's advice for anyone finishing 100 holes of golf? Don't schedule more golf activities later that day.

Wilt, the PGA professional at Arrowhead Golf Club in Minster, will play 100 holes on Monday, June 20 to raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America. All money will be sent to Ohio only chapters.

Wilt started the charity event last summer, inspired by the work his family has done for leukemia charities in the past. He takes donations tied to his play on the course, including eagles, birdies, pars, sub-70s rounds and three birdies in a row.

After finishing his 100 holes last year — a marathon of golf that raised about $4,500 for Ohio leukemia charities — Wilt held a trio of golf lessons later that night.

"While I got through it and made a good 15-hour day of it, I decided this year that that won't happen," Wilt said.

For each $25 donated, Wilt gives donors a raffle ticket for the possibility to win one of three gift certificates and a grand prize of a free round of golf for four at the course of the winner's choosing.

Those interested in donating can contact Ashley Wilt at Arrowhead Golf Club at 419-628-3111 or via email or sign up at Arrowhead Golf Club. More infomation on the 100 hole event is on
