Linda Gowthrop, 57

Linda Gowthrop, 57, of Beech Island, S.C., formerly of Angola, Ind., passed away on Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at her sister’s home in Bryan.

Linda was born on June 19, 1954, in Fort Eustis, Va., to John and Barbara (Burden) Simpson, and her father preceded her in death. Her mother survives her in Bryan.

On May 11, 2002, she married Michael Gowthrop, and he survives her in Beech Island, S.C.

She is also survived by a son, Chad (Maggie Platt) Underwood of Fremont, Ind.; a sister, Kathy (Richard) Wheeler of Bryan; one grandson, Alexander Underwood of Fremont, Ind.; two nephews, Jeremy (Amber Simmons) Wheeler of Bryan and Jon  (Amy Noel) Wheeler of Hamilton, Ind.; her great nieces and nephew, Adrianna, Sophia, Arden and Mara; a stepdaughter, Tracy (Robbie) Robinson; five stepgrandchildren, Taylor, Nik, Shayne, Michael and Alex, all of South Carolina; her mother-in-law, Bonnie Leugers of South Carolina.  

Linda worked at Gas America in Angola.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.  Saturday at the Weicht Funeral Home in Angola, Ind.

Memorials can be made to the family, c/o Michael Gowthrop, or to Community Hospital of Williams County Home Health and Hospice of Bryan.
