Lester I. Topp, 85

Lester I. Topp, 85, New Bremen, passed away at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at his residence.

He was born on May 14, 1927, in Chicksaw, the son of Ernest and Lucinda (Steinecker) Topp, who preceded him in death.

On Sept. 24, 1949, he married Ruth A. Stutz, and she survives in New Bremen.

He is also survived by two sons, Gary (Sheree) Topp of New Bremen and Mike (Joyce) Topp of New Bremen; two daughters, Shirley Deen of Forest, Va., and Jill (Michael) Nagel of New Bremen; a sister; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters and one great-grandchild.

Lester received his diploma from New Bremen High School.

He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

Visitation hours will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Cisco Funeral Home, 1175 E. Greenville Road, St. Marys.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cisco Funeral Home in St. Marys, the Rev. Becky Erb Strang, officiating.

Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen.

Military honors will be provided by the New Bremen American Legion, Post 241.
