Leo J. Tebbe, 85

Leo J. Tebbe, 85, of 00995 Southland Road in rural New Bremen, died at 6:40 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.

He was born on Aug. 20, 1928, in Glynwood, to William and Mary (Kramer) Tebbe.

On April 25, 1953, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, he married Mary A. Craft, who survives.

He is also survived by six sons, Mike (Mary) Tebbe  of St. Marys; Dan (Linda) Tebbe  of St. Marys; Allen (Sandi) Tebbe  of Bowling Green; Jerry (Stacey) Tebbe  of St. Marys; Paul (Vonnie Noel) Tebbe of Rockford and Kevin (Sharon) Tebbe  of Mount Gilead; three daughters, Diane (Mark) Batcher  of Beavercreek; Annette (Mike) Hensley  of Lima and Brenda (Sam) Conley  of Baldwinsville, N.Y.; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty (Jay) Meyring  of Amsterdam, N.Y.; and Pauline Reinhart  of Portland, Ind.; four brothers, Lawrence (Rita) Tebbe  of Wapakoneta; Ray Tebbe  of Tipp City; Don (Marjorie) Tebbe  of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Alvin (Edna) Tebbe  of Celina; two sisters-in-law, Jan Craft  of St. Marys and Ruth Craft  of St. Marys and four brothers-in-law, Vic (Mary) Craft  of Milford; Ken (Judy) Craft  of St. Marys; Melvin (LaDonna) Craft  of Montezuma and Dave (Luana) Craft  of Wapakoneta.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Eunice Tobe, parents-in-law Bernard and Estelle Craft and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Jack Tobe, Vic Reinhart, Marilyn Tebbe, Don Craft, Carl Craft and Bernard (Rita) Craft.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Mr. Tebbe was retired form Beatrice Foods Corp. in New Bremen, where he worked as a stationary engineer.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys and the American Legion in Coldwater.

Leo and Mary enjoyed square dancing and were charter members of Tri-Squares Square Dance Club. He also liked to fish and care for his large vegetable garden. Most of all, he liked to spoil his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial is cheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Frisday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, the Rev. Barry Stechschulte, officiant.

Burial, with graveside military honors, will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Marys.

Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Ohio 703 West Chapel, in St. Marys

Memorial contributions may be directed to either the Mary Knoll Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
