Leo Helentjaris, 89

Leo Helentjaris, 89, of Celina, died at 1:20 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, of natural causes.

He was born on Oct. 13, 1923, in Dayton, to parents Thomas Helentjaris and Lillian Bailey, both of whom preceded him in death.

On Aug. 30, 1947, he married Henrietta White, who preceded him in death on April 25, 1912.

He is survived by two sons, Thomas and Brenda Helentjaris of Hoenwald, Tenn. and David and Linda Helentjaris of Celina; by a daughter, Linda and Charles Creiglow of Thompkinsville, Ky.; by one sister.

He was preceded in death by a son, Paul "Chris" Helentjaris; by four brothers; by a grandson.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina, the Rev. Douglas Meyer and Rev. Jeff Gramza, officiating.

Burial will be held at Mercer Memory Gardens.

Military rites will be provided by the Celina VFW and American Legion.

A gathering of family and friends will be held after graveside services at St. John Lutheran Church Family Life Center.
