NEW BREMEN — Lima Central Catholic defeated New Bremen 66-40 on Friday night behind 18 points from Billy Taflinger.

Taflinger finished with 18 points for LCC, while Ty O’Connor scored 11. Bruce Hodges and Tre'on Johnson added 8 apiece.

"They were tougher off the ball than we were. They were better basketball players tonight than we were," said New Bremen head coach Adam Dougherty. "Now these things aren't things that can't be fixed. I mean it's early, but there's no excuse for some of the things we do, some of the tough things that we don't do."

Derek Bornhorst led New Bremen with nine points.

LCC forced  turnovers  and applied constant pressure on the Cardinals, especially during the first half.

"That's the name of our game is obviously the defense. Where we react is our ball pressure versus the guard, (we) get a lot of steals, a lot of deflections," said LCC head coach Frank Kill. "Then that also transpires into our offense. We rely a lot on our defense to get our offense going and that's the name of our game."

LCC led 35-20 at the half.

New Bremen (1-1) will travel to Coldwater next Friday.
