Kenneth D. Lutz, 76

June 4, 2012

Kenneth D. Lutz, 76, of 260 N. Spruce St., St. Marys, died at 6:25 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at his residence.

He was born on Feb. 4, 1936, in St. Marys, to Charles and Alice (Schmidt) Lutz, and they preceded him in death.

On Sept. 9, 1960, in St. Marys, he married J. Gale McGlothen, and she preceded him in death on June 24, 2011.

He is survived by three children, Dr. Lori (partner Sue Cisar) of Marietta, Steven (Lori) Lutz of Liberty Township and Kendra Lutz of Greenfield, Ind.; six grandchildren, Mary Lutz, Grace Lutz, Philip Lutz, Thomas Lutz, Elena Cisar and Jaqueline Cisar; one stepgrandson, Mike Young; three great-stepgrandchildren, Cameron, Carlie and Hayli; four brothers, Don (Glenna) Lutz of Newark, Ned (Pat) Lutz of Harrison Township, Mich., Dave (Barbra) Lutz of St. Marys and Bob Lutz of St. Marys.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Carol (Bill) Garvin.

He was a 1954 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School.

A stone mason for more than 50 years, Ken had the uncanny ability to work without the benefit of a level. His combination of indeterminable spirit and stubbornness allowed him to not simply exist but rather continue to lay brick and block even after receiving a heart transplant in 1995.

He was a member and former elder of Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys and had served a term as  councilor at large for the city of St. Marys.

He enjoyed reading. Ken will be remembered as a devoted and loving father and grandfather.

Funeral rites are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, 210 N. Wayne St., St. Marys. Private family burial will take place in the Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel), St. Marys.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, Ind., transplant program.

Online condolences may be expressed via MillerFuneralHomes.net.
