Kathryn “Kitty” B. Luecke, 92

Kathryn “Kitty” B. Luecke, 92, of 120 S. West St., St. Marys, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Otterbein — St. Marys.

She was born on March 3, 1919, in St. Marys Township, Auglaize County, to Elmer and Mary (White) Youngs, and they preceded her in death.

On Oct. 18, 1956, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, she married Rodney S. Luecke, and he survives.

She is also survived by two daughters, Mary (Chris) Beane of St. Marys and Jonie (Rick) Kistler of St. Marys; two grandchildren, John Beane and Grace Kistler.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, William Youngs, John Youngs and Elmer “Bud” Youngs; a sister, Mary Danaher.

She was a 1937 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School.

She was a homemaker and had also worked as a secretary for the St. Marys Woolen Mills for many years.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and American Legion Post 323 Auxiliary, having served as chaplain, both in St. Marys.

An avid bowler, she participated in the Tuesday Night Ladies League at Varsity Lanes as a member of the Priess Shoes team. She was fond of animals and a loyal supporter of St. Marys Roughriders and The Ohio State University Buckeyes sports programs. She played an active and important role in the lives of her grandchildren and her numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 511 E. Spring St., St. Marys, with the Rev. Anthony E. Cutcher officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Marys.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West), St. Marys.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Holy Rosary School or to the American Arthritis Foundation.
