Julia Swanson Woods, 67, of 605 Royal Oak Drive, St. Marys and formerly of Englewood, Fla., died at 12:05 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2014, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born on Sept. 6, 1946, in Toledo, the daughter of Henry and Barbara (Stone) Swanson.
She married Edward Lee Woods on Nov. 16, 1969, in Huntington, W.Va., and he preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 2012.
She is survived by her three sons, William Suchland, of Englewood, Fla.; Edward (Brenda) Woods, of St. Marys; Clinton (Sara) Woods, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and by five grandchildren, Kyle, Rachel, Abby, Wesley and Olivia Woods. She is also survived by her siblings, Linda Harruff, of St. Marys; Donna Finke, of Ocala, Fla.; Judy (Bob) Zink, of St. Marys; Henry (Jennifer) Swanson, of St. Marys; Robert Swanson of St. Marys.
She was preceded in death by her parents husband and brother-in-law Brent Finke.
Julia was a 1964 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and Edison Community College in Piqua.
A registered nurse, she retired from UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. She also worked many years in the emergency department and as a nursing supervisor for Englewood Community Hospital and Bon Secours/Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Port Charlotte, Fla.
She was a member of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church, VFW Post 9289 and Eagle Lodge Aerie 767 Auxiliaries, all in St. Marys.
She was a huge NASCAR fan, enjoyed making crafts , painting and spending time with her family. She was the family genealogist.
Private family burial rites will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elm Grove Cemetery, the Rev. Dr. David Williams, officiant.
