Joseph L. Sarfi, 94, of 1020 Fleck Ave., Celina, died on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at his residence.

He was born on Aug. 2, 1917, in Cleveland, to Joszef and Mari (Stefarak) Sarfi, and they preceded him in death.

On April 21, 1943, he married Harriet F. Dudek, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 3, 2005.

He is survived by a son, Glenn R. (Santosh) Sarfi of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Valerie Strohl of Celina and Gayle (Gerry) Simon of Kent; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a nephew; a great nephew; a great-great niece and nephew.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law; a brother and sister-in-law.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, with the Rev. Kenneth Alt officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Celina, with military honors by the Celina American Legion Post 210 and the Celina Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5713.

Friends may call one hour before services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
