Joseph G. Brandewie, 85

Joseph G. Brandewie, 85, of 11251 Brandewie Road, Fort Loramie, died at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at Lima Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Feb. 21, 1927, in Fort Loramie, to Lawrence and Lietta (Bensman) Brandewie, and they preceded him in death along with his stepmother Lucille (Bornhorst) Brandewie.

On July 16, 1949, in Fort Loramie, he married Virginia Schafer, and she survives in Fort Loramie.

He is also survived by his children, Sandra Pitts of Sidney, Diane (Jim) Ernst of Bellbrook, Nancy Ernst of Fort Loramie, John (Karen) Brandewie of Fort Loramie, Joe B. (Mary) Brandewie of Fort Loramie and Jerry (Stacey) Brandewie of Fort Loramie; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers; a sister; a stepbrother.  

He was preceded in death by two sons, Lawrence Joseph and James; a grandchild; two brothers; a stepsister. 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Butte during World War II. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church, with the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will take place in St. Michael Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
