Jones Named MAC Player Of The Year

After earning player of the year honors in basketball last winter, the junior and soon-to-be Michigan Wolverine Paige Jones earned that same honor in the sport she loves the most.

Jones was named Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year on Tuesday as the conference announced its All-MAC team in volleyball.

The junior ended the regular season with 74 sets played, a team-best 660 kills, 106 service aces, 31 blocks, 32 assists and 211 digs for the No. 1 seeded Cardinals (19-3) in the Division IV volleyball postseason.

Sophomore Rachel Kremer earned second-team All-MAC, while Madison Pape and Blake Snider earned Honorable Mention.

Kremer recorded 172 kills, 40 service aces in 74 sets played, a team-high 51 blocks. 84 digs and 26 assists. Pape collected 815 assists in 74 sets played, along with 12 kills, 18 service aces and 16 blocks.

Snider was second on the team with 160 digs in 74 sets played.

Kenzie Schroer led the New Knoxville Rangers with first-team All-MAC honors with 19 aces, 179 kills, 25 digs, 429 assists and 283 digs.

Shayna Bierlein earned second-team honors for the Rangers (12-11) and Faith Homan claimed Honorable Mention.

Bierlein led the team with 224 kills to go along with 70 assists, 13 blocks and 212 digs.

Homan recorded 12 aces, 46 assists and a team-high 456 digs.

Minster's Jordyn Heitbrink earned first-team honors on Tuesday. Paige Thobe was named to second-team and Hayley Baumer was named to Honorable Mention.
