John W. Schultz Sr., 92

John W. Schultz Sr., 92, of 02700 Greenville Road, St. Marys, died at 5:20 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in St. Marys.

He was born on Jan. 8, 1922, in Noble Township, Auglaize County, the son of Albert and Hilda (Elshoff) Schultz.

He married Gladys L. Stoner on Feb. 19, 1944, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 2007.

He is survived by his four children, John Schultz Jr. of St. Marys; Jerry (Judy) Schultz of St. Marys; JoAnn (Keith) Hodges of Overland Park, Kansas; and Jan (Gary) Ouellete of Barre, Vt.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, Sean (Linda) Finke of Coldwater; Jill (Tim) Gasson of West Chester; Jodi Epperson of Westfield, Ind.; and Justin Schultz of St. Marys; eight great-grandchildren, Laney Finke, Lindsey Finke, Seth Finke, Sam Finke, Drew Gasson, Kyle Gasson, Luke Gasson and Will Gasson.

John was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, Ruth Langsdon and Louella Russell and by a brother, Almond Schultz.

He was a 1940 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. John was a lifelong dairy farmer. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys, where he had been a member of Vestry and the church building committee. He was a member of the Auglaize Farm Bureau; the Ohio Farm Union; the Auglaize County Soil and Water Conservation District and Milk Marketing Incorporated. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.

Funeral rites will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, St. Marys, the Rev. Bill Maki, officiant.

Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High Street, St. Marys, where memorial gifts may be directed to either Zion Lutheran Church or Grand Lake Hospice.
