John K. Burke, 95

John K. Burke, 95, of Glynnwood, died on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at his residence.

He was born on Sept. 14, 1917, in Glynwood, to David L. and Julia (Cogan) Burke.

On May 3, 1952, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Glynwood, he married La Vera Schumann, who survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Michael (Jane) Burke  of Wapakoneta and Steve (Kay) Burke  of St. Marys; by four grandchildren, Ryan (Brandy) Burke, Emily (Kevin) High, Kelly (Matt) Wilker and Greg (Sarah) Burke; by four great-grandchildren,  Briana Burke, Paige Burke, Rebecca Wilker and Roxy Wilker; by a brother, Robert J. Burke  of St. Marys; a sister-in-law, Isabella Burke  of Glynnwood; and a brother-in-law, Howard Schumann  of Sidney.

He was preceded in death by  parents David and Julia Burke; brother David Burke; sister-in-laws Joan Burke and Janet Schumann.

He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Wapakoneta. He was a life-long farmer in the Glynwood area and, in his younger years, worked as an agent for the R. J. Burke Insurance Agency in St. Marys. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Glynwood, and Knights of Columbus (The Rev. James O. Byrne Council # 1592) in St. Marys.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Glynwood, the Rev. Oscar Seger, officiant.

Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery in Glynnwood.
