Joan Groff, 92

Joan Groff, 92, formerly of North Star, died on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville.

She was born on Jan. 5, 1920, in North Star, to Leo and Zita (Grilliot) Stammen, and they preceded her in death.

On May 17, 1941, she married Val Groff, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1995.

Joan is survived by five children, Cathy (John) Creager of Rossburg, Vickie (Chuck) Broerman of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kathy (Larry) Schmitmeyer of Coldwater, Sherry (Jim) Myers of Greenville and Deb (Chris) Kunkler of St. Henry; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister; a sister-in-law.

She was preceded in death by five siblings; a brother-in-law.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church in North Star, with the Rev. David Zink officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery in North Star.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home-St. Henry and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
