Jennifer Anne (Westbay) Helberg, 40

Jennifer Anne (Westbay) Helberg, 40, died on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, Ala.

She was born on May 21, 1972, to the Rev. Michael V. and Nancy L. Westbay, who survive in Wapakoneta.  

On Aug. 29, 2000, she married Joseph Helberg, who survives.  Jennifer, her husband and daughter, Rylie Gwen, 10, moved to Helena, Ala., in the summer of 2011.

Jennifer was a 1990 graduate of Coldwater High School and in 2006 received a Bachelor of Philosophy degree with honors from Bowling Green State University.  At the time of her death, she was an Administrative Assistant with the Shelby County (Ala.) Humane Society.  

Jennifer is also survived by her grandfather, Vernon Westbay of Bellefontaine; her brother, Christopher M. Westbay and family (Melissa, Christopher and Chloe) of Hilliard; and her step-daughter, Christine Helberg of McClure.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Harold and Ruth Presar; her paternal grandmother, LaVerta Westbay; and her infant niece, Cara Westbay.  

Jennifer was a loving wife and mother.  She loved animals, especially cats and dogs.  She also loved music and was an accomplished pianist.  She gave of herself freely.  

A memorial service celebrating Jennifer’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home, Ohio 501, Wapakoneta, the Revs. R.J. Davis and Tamara Wood, officiants.  

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.   

Interment will be done privately at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shelby County (Ala.) Humane Society, to a scholarship fund that will be established for her daughter, Rylie Gwen, or to a church or charity of the donor’s choice.
